Privacy policy
Light Hours for Garmin watches. Effective 23 October 2026.
What Light Hours reads
The time and date, and your watch’s position (see below). Nothing else.
Permissions
The app asks for this, and for nothing else:
- Positioning: to read the watch’s position, so sunrise, sunset and twilight can be worked out for where you are.
Location
Light Hours needs to know where you are to work out sunrise, sunset and twilight. It reads the watch’s position when you open the app. It asks the watch for a new one when you press START, and whenever you open it with no place yet. It keeps that place rounded to a tenth of a degree, on the watch only. The glance uses the place already kept and never asks for one.
What Light Hours saves
Kept in the app’s own storage on your watch: the rounded place with the time it was read ([latitude, longitude, when]), a yes or no for whether you have opened the app (opened), and your two settings, Rule and Accent. Nothing else is saved.
What Light Hours shares
Nothing. It has no network access and no phone companion, so your place is never sent to the developer, to Garmin Connect or to anyone else by the app.
Purchases
Garmin handles purchases through the Connect IQ Store under Garmin’s privacy policy. The developer never sees your payment details.
